Lachat Town Farm Recent Contributors
Thank you to all who contribute so much to the farm. Below we thank some of our most recent contributors for their support of the farm!
Lachat Town Farm Grants
Thank you to our funders for their support through their generous grant opportunities. It is because of the funding of our amazing grantors that we are able to continue working towards our mission. You truly make our success possible, and we are extremely grateful!
Fairfield County Community Foundation - 2021
Many virtual hugs to Fairfield County's Community Foundation who administer The Julia Wasserman Animal Welfare Fund, a donor-advised fund at the Community Foundation. The Fund's mandate is to promote the wonderful, healing relationship between humans and our animal friends, and, with that aim in mind, have very generously supported our aligned efforts at Lachat Town Farm with a $2500 grant towards our animal programs, in particular, in support of the newest members of our farm family: our 3 Billy goats, Clover, Bob, and Vindaloo ('Vinnie' for short). For more information about Fairfield County's Community Foundation, please visit fccfoundation.org.
Global Preservation Society - 2019
This GPS grant helps to further our sustainability efforts to create a comprehensive reduce-reuse-recycle program by purchasing reusable utensils and additional dishwasher cutlery baskets; and creating more effective sorting signage with the services of a professional designer.
Conquest Graphics - 2018
This valuable print grant helps cover our printing costs for marketing and advertisting materials.
1772 Foundation - 2016 and 2019
2016 - Administered by the CT Trust, this grant allowed us to shore up the existing farmhouse windows versus replacing them with less architecturally appropriate new windows.
2019 - Adjacent to our wonderful old dairy barn is a Carriage Barn dating from 1840. This grant will allow us to make much needed repairs to the barn's roof, replacing the corrugated tin roof with a longer lasting metal roof that will match the main barn's roofing.
New England Grassroots Environmental Fund - 2016
Validating our efforts to educate our community, this fund helped pay for outfitting our greenhouse with potting benches and other needed supplies.
Weston Education Foundation - 2015
As the Farm began to offer classes and programs, this Weston fund helped pay for instructors and class supplies.
Weston Kiwanis - 2014
The Kiwanis mission is to "Help Kids Around the World". Our local Kiwanis chapter, recognizing what a gift a Town Farm would be to the children of our community, stepped up to help the Farm purchase a much needed, used tractor.
CT Department of Agriculture - 2013 and 2014
2013 - This grant helped cover the costs of fencing, raised beds, soil, and more for the Community Garden construction.
2014 - A solar-powered greenhouse to be used as an educational space as well as for growing was a perfect fit for Lachat Town Farm. This grant helped pay for much of the purchase and construction costs.
Green Village Initiative - 2012
As a local organization that supports sustainability efforts and agriculture in our area, GVI was right by our side cheerleading our grassroots effort to create a town farm at Lachat. They helped pay for one of our first initiatives to bring our community together: building our 42 (now 50) bed Community Garden.
Preservation Connecticut - 2011 and 2013
2011 - This Planning grant got the whole effort rolling! It validated the historical significance of the farmhouse and paid for an analysis and recommendations by an architect specializing in historic preservation, an engineer, and a landscape architect.
2013 - The grant for Maintenance & Repair of Historic Properties helped pay for the replacement of the existing asphalt-shingled farmhouse roof that was in terrible disrepair with a long-lasting, historically appropriate, and beautiful cedar roof.

SH Acoustics
With more than 30 years of experience in residential and commercial acoustic design, Lachat is lucky to have owner and Weston resident Steve Haas on our volunteer team. Steve and his company provide acoustic support for many of our popular events. Thank you for lending your expertise Steve!
Whitnee Shulman Photography
Whitnee Shulman is a new Weston resident and a professional photographer and friend of Lachat Farm. She has generously offered her expertise to the farm to chronicle some of our events and beautiful farm while expanding her client base in Connecticut. Whitnee's talent is capturing happiness in micro moments that most people miss, uniquely capturing personalities, and quickly making people feel comfortable in front of a camera. Not only does she shoot family portraits, she also photographs events, headshots and website imagery. Lachat is thankful for Whitnee's support!
